Wow! What a busy couple of months! - December 18, 2011

Since my last post it seems like it has been non stop. With work, regular church services, special church services and trying to keep up with things to be done at home and now Christmas just one week away. Like they say, the older we get the faster time goes by. As a child, we think time goes by sooooooooo slow.

Since I missed even posting anything in November, I want to mention some things I am thankful for. I am so thankful for my health, once you have been through cancer twice each day is an extra blessing. I am thankful for my husband who has been there and taken care of me through it all. I am thankful for my family members near and far. I must confess the older I get the more I miss all of my family. I hate being so far away from all of them. On my birthday, November 14th I received an extra blessing. I was reading posts on Facebook and noticed a post from someone on a friend's page by the last name of Billadeau. Well, I just had to go back and check on this person. (My maiden name was Billadeau). So I started chatting with this girl on Pam Britt's page. Come to find out we are related, she was my 1st cousin's granddaughter. So I went to her page to check her out and by her speech was curious to ask if she was saved. So I went back to Pam's page and asked her if she was a Christian. Her reply was "Yes". Not only did I find a long lost family member but she also is a Christian. Thank you Jesus. That is not the end of this story. So I just had to find out how she became a Christian. She told me she was a bus kid at Faith Baptist Church, in Bourbonnais, Illinois. Wow, now I was really exctied and had tears in my eyes!!! Faith Baptist Church in Bourbonnais, Illinois is where I got saved, baptized and served the Lord for many years. This girl also got to attend the school there and is right finishing up LPN school in June and then will be attending Bible College. A couple of weeks ago we even got to talk on the phone. Looking forward to getting to meet her someday.

I am so thankful to Faith Baptist Church and all their soulwinning efforts. I am thankful that I learned many years ago to be a soulwinner there and am still winning souls to Christ. Folks soulwinning is a way of life not just something you do when it is convenient. I am thankful that my sister and brother-in-law cared to share Jesus with me. Stop and think who it was that told you about Jesus, thank them. Then stop and think how many people you have won to Christ yourself and are you still looking for lost souls. Christians there are lost souls out there we just need to go find them. They are someone's mom, dad, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, grandparents, friend, co-worker, etc.

With Christmas one week away let's remember what Christmas is all about. It isn't all the decorations, presents, Santa, etc. It is all about HIM! It is Jesus' birthday, let's pray about what we are going to give Jesus for his birthday. I have been teaching in my Sunday School class for 2 or 3 weeks now, "What are we going to give Jesus for His birthday? We have been putting things in a red package in our room and next week we will give it to HIM! Maybe you need to be more faithful to church, maybe you need to be reading your Bible more, what about giving, what about going soulwinning, what are you doing for him?

Things at Faith Baptist Church in Pasadena, Texas has been doing good. We have had several saved in the last 3 months. Looking forward to what God is going to do in 2012. Again, please pray with us for some help. We need help with our youth, someone who can do Children's Church, we need a piano player and someone to lead music.

Scott and I want to wish each and everyone of you a very Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year.

Prayer Requests - October 14, 2011

Just wanted to share some prayer requests with all you prayer warriors. All are cancer patients:

Leah Adams - waiting to find out what Stage she is in. (liver & lymph nodes)
Bonnie Bryan - in hospital, has a couple of fractures in back along with cancer
Joanne Nelson - ovarian cancer - in hospital right now, in pain and fluid still in lungs and abdomen.
Owen Ivey - haven't heard a recent update, but continue to pray for him.

Again, it seems like you hear of another cancer patient almost daily. I am sure you folks out there know someone with cancer or has gone through cancer. When you pray for these folks, also pray for their family, friends and medical staff. The support group is very important. The greatest support is our "GREAT PHYSICIAN". I don't know anyone can go through cancer without the Lord. Let's share HIM whenever possible.

4 Month Check Up - October 6, 2011

Went this morning for my 4 month check up. First of all we went to work at 5:30 am to do our first run, then it was off to downtown Houston to MD Anderson. My blood work was scheduled for 9:30 am and that is exactly when we arrived. We don't get in from our 1st run until 8:30-8:45 am but we did make it on time. Then my doctor's appointment was at 10:30 am. Not much of a wait today. Everything went good, one stick for blood and then nothing new at the doctor's office. Dr. Soliman said everything looks good. I got called later with my CA-125 results which was 10.9. I love getting good news. Praise the Lord! What a "Great Physician" I have!!!!

While at MD Anderson I picked up some information about the 2011 Online Quilt Auction (Oct. 26-Nov. 9, 2011) you can go to ovarianquilt.com. It is raising awareness and research funds for gynecologic cancers. Check it out.

Some symptoms you can look for in Ovarian Cancer: 1)Bloating, 2)Pelvic or abdominal pain, 3) Difficulty eating or feeling full quickly, and 4) Urinary symptoms (urgency and frequency).

Endometrial(Uterine)Cancer Symptoms: 1) Bleeding after menopause (experienced by over 90% of endometrial patients), 2) Irregular vaginal bleeding before menopause, 3) Unusual vaginal discharge, 4) Change in bowel or bladder habits, 5) Pain in the pelvic area, and 6) Pain during sexual intercourse.

Again, please get a simple blood test CA-125, it can save your life. Cancer is an awful thing to experience and it is awful for your family and friends.

Thank you for all your prayers and support.

OVARIAN CANCER AWARENESS MONTH - September 3, 2011

GOD HAS BEEN SO GOOD
It has been awhile since I have posted on my blog. It has been a busy summer. Scott and I worked summer school and at the beginning of August we took the first 2 weeks and went to Illinois to visit with my family. We had a great time. Always sad to leave my family, it had been 4 years since we were up there. It seems the older I get the more I miss them all.

We got back in time for inservice at work and school started August 22nd. Already 2 weeks into this school year. So far so good.

On August 31st our air conditioner was stolen from our church again. The first time was on June 1st, we found an air conditioner on Craig's list for $250.00. It was an old unit but was working good enough to get us by until we could save up enough money for a new one. Well, then the second one was stolen. This past Thursday I posted on Facebook about our church having two air conditioners stolen within 3 months. A news reporter read my post and did some investigating and found us through the police report. I did not post the name of our church, phone number or anything. When we got home from work she had called wanting an interview. So Thursday night they interview Scott and then did a live report at the church Thursday evening. When we got home Thurday night after the live report our phone was ringing with folks who wanted to help. Long story short, today they brought us a brand new air conditioner, cage for it and installed free of charge. What a MIGHTY GOD we serve. We are so thankful and blessed by what God has done.

As for my health it is good, my next MD Anderson appointment is on October 6th. Also, be aware that September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. Just want to mention that every woman needs to be aware that this type of cancer doesn't have many symptoms so the best way to check for it is to have a blood test called CA125.

Hard to believe it has already been over a year since my last chemo. I still pray that it never comes back again and thank my GREAT PHYSICIAN for my health. I hope you know my GREAT PHYSICIAN, I do have a great physician at MD Anderson, but I am talking about my Lord and Saviour. I could of never made it without HIM!

Prayer Request - July 13, 2011

I am asking my family and friends who read this to please be in prayer for Joanne Nelson. She has had surgery and chemo for ovarian cancer. I have shared with y'all before to please pray for her. Well, her update on Caring Bridge said her CA125 was up to 155.6 and will have to start back up on an aggressive chemo.

Please pray for her healing, for her emotional state ( I know the rollercoaster ride of emotions) and pray for her family and friends who care for her. But through it all may our Lord be exalted and people saved.

Yeah, Good Report! - June 9, 2011

Just got my phone call from Dr. Soliman, my CA125 was 10.6. I am good for another 4 months. My appointment was at 11:00 am this morning and I really wasn'T worried but I find as the day goes on my mind starts wandering. I am so thankful that I have a great doctor and MD Anderson for my treatment but even more thankful to "MY GREAT PHYSICIAN".

Thank you for all your prayers. There are so many folks out there with cancer. As we sat there waiting to go in to see the doctor, I saw a young woman and her husband come out. I started remembering how I felt the first time. Wow, I JUST HATE CANCER! Please continue to pray.

Please be in prayer for the son of one of my co-workers, his name is Michael. He will be having a PET scan next week. He has already gone through chemo and it seems there is still some cancer.

Reach out an be an encouragment to others around you. We need to be there for others who are hurting. It sure helps them and it will help you. What a blessing it is. Time is short and they may need Jesus, let's share HIM!

Wow, Where Has The Time Gone!!!!! June 4, 2011

I didn't realize that it has been so long since I posted. Does that mean I am too busy? The fact of the matter is that I have to be in the right mind to think and type. Sometimes that takes me a longggggggggggggg time. Ha!

Since my last post we did our Sprint for Life walk at MD Anderson. Here are some of the facts for this years walk.

Over 2775 registrants - most ever
From 25 states
92 Ovarian cancer survivors - a record
$533,000 raised & donations still coming in
The goal was $33,000
I
I was so pleased with my group
"Debbie's Defenders" there were 14 of us. I had also wrote a tract "Meet My Great Physician" and we were handing them out. I had one lady tell me she was going to put it in her Bible and would pray for me, another lady took it, kept walking while she was reading and turned around and came back to me and said "What an awesome way to share the Lord!" Sure did make me feel good.

I sure do thank my sister Paula for coming and my niece Pam. Also, want to thank all my co-workers who came out to support me. Y'all were a blessing to me and Scott. We were so glad to be able to see Dr. Soliman and get her picture with me and Scott. She truly is a great physician.

Also, thankful that Pam took pictures and video of the walk. We will post more pictures as soon as we get them all together.

So my next appointment is Thursday, June 9. I would ask y'all to be praying for another good report.

April 12, 2011 - Busy, Busy, Busy

Wow, it has been along time since I have posted. We have been so busy at the church and with our work schedule there is not much free time. I think the last time I posted was the report of my last doctor's appointment. Praise the Lord! I am still doing great, my next appointment is June 9.

Also, getting ready for the Sprint for Life 5K Walk on May 7, at 7:30 am at MD Anderson for Ovarian Cancer. If anyone is interested in walking with us you can still register this week, just go to www.sprintforlife.com and register under "Debbie's Defenders". You must have your packet mailed to you or go pick it up before May 7. I know it says you can pick it up on May 7, but I called to check and they said "NO". If you have any questions just let me know and I will help you get registered. I am so excited, my sister, Paula, is coming from Illinois to walk with me and my niece, Pam, is coming from Colorado. Both of them came and helped take care of me after my surgery. I also have some co-workers who are going to walk with me. I have others who can't walk but want to give towards Ovarian Cancer research under my name. Just go to www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/debbie-netterville I want to thank my sister-in-law Danna for donating and also to Mary Brolley who wrote the article on me to put in the Network paper. I appreciate both of them giving.

Again, I want to thank all my family and friends for all your prayers and support. God is so good. Please be in prayer for the walk on May 7, I wrote a tract "Meet My Great Physician" and Scott will be handing them out. We are praying for souls to be saved.

Please be in prayer for my niece Patty's husband, Dave. He has been having bad headaches, dizzy spells, and almost blacking out. He has gone to ER, doctors and they found he has fluid on the brain. The last few days he has gotten worse, so they have scheduled him for surgery, Monday, March 14 to put a stunt in. So please be praying. Also, for Patty as she is expecting a baby in July.

Update - February 19, 2011

Thursday I went for my 3 month check up at MD Anderson. Examine went well and Dr. Soliman called me later to let me know my blood results, it was 10. Last time it was 7.8, but she said we were right on track. I was still a bit concerned as well as some of my family members because it went up instead of down. So I sent an email to Dr. Soliman to ask her about it. I will let you know more when I hear back from here.
Also, an update on Patti Bailey. She went home from the hospital and is on insulin to help her pancreas not to have to work as hard. So please continue to pray for her and her family.
On May 7 I am going to participate in the "Sprint for Life" walk at MD Anderson. It is for Ovarian Cancer awareness. My sister is coming and my niece Pam is trying to come, both of them were here to help take care of me and Scott after surgery and during some chemo. Anyone who wants to participate can go to Sprint for Life at MD Anderson and get the information and can register online. Let me know if you are interested. I want us all to wear teal and we are working on a design for the shirts now. I have some friends from work that want to walk with me. The more the better.
Again, thank you for your prayers and support.

Urgent Prayer Request - February 13, 2011

Please be in prayer for Patti Bailey!!!
About 3 years ago she had a kidney and pancreas transplant. Last Wednesday she wasn't feeling well so they took her to the hospital. They have done some tests on her kidney and pancreas, they put her on antirejection meds. I will be starting a Care Page for her once I get more information. If you are interested in receiving her Care Page updates, please let me know. Send me your email address and I will get you on her Care Page list. I just didn't want to wait, I want my family and friends praying NOW! Always, remember if it was you or your loved one, you would want people praying NOW. So please share this prayer request with your family, friends and also your church family.
Please send cards to:
Patti Bailey
% Garth Road Baptist Church
8622 Garth Road
Baytown, TX 77521
Also, when you send a message on her Care Page or send her a card, please let her know how you heard about her and where you live. I found it interesting when I was going through cancer, to find out how people knew about me. But most of all it sure was encouraging and uplifting to know that people really care.

January 14, 2011

This has been a hard couple of weeks. I am so glad that we started the Daughters of the King blog (you can click unto this blog at the bottom of my blog) to help us memorize scripture. After reading a new blog about Ovarian Cancer, I must admit it was very depressing. For a couple of days, it was really rough, so I began to search for a scripture to help me.
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Heb. 4:16
Also, just this week I have heard about two more cancer victums. One is a 7 yr. old granddaughter (Kiera) of Lisa Loven (bus driver at work) who has neuroblastoma (a fast growing cancer). Another is a lady bus driver who already went through surgery for breast cancer over the holidays and came back to work this week. Can not mention her name because she doesn't want alot of people to know. Wow, that old ugly CANCER raises its head everywhere. I HATE IT!!!!! Still another prayer requests is for Reagan Faith Van Fleet who is 6 weeks old with very serious heart problems. Her great aunt is an aide at one of our schools.

January 8, 2011

Just thought I would post another webpage for Ovarian Cancer patients, that I received from Joanne Nelson. I have gone to it and thought I would share it with you.

Again, as I read it, it has made me kind of depressed. All the facts you read are not good, so we just need to leave it in the Lord's hands. I thank the Lord for His healing and I pray it NEVER comes back. Please, please, please read about the symptoms and get checked, the earlier the better.

EVEN SO COME, LORD JESUS!!!

One Year Ago Today - January 4, 2011

Wow, as we were riding down the road today at work on the bus, it dawned on me. I told Scott, one year ago today I wasn't feeling too good. I had surgery for ovarian cancer. It is hard to believe that it has been a year already. God sure has been good to me. Although it has been a very hard year health wise, it has also been hard personally. But through it all God has been right there with us.

I would like to thank Dr. Pamela Soliman, her fellows, nurses and everyone that had a part in taking care of me. I am so thankful to have been able to go to MD Anderson for all my care. As many of you know that has been following my blog, I have posted many pictures of those workers.

This is one of the most recent pictures of me taken this past Sunday. My surgery was January 4 and my last chemo treatment was May 27. This is how much my hair has grown back and has come back very curly.
So again, I would like to mention to every woman out there to get your CA125 checked. The earlier they find ovarian cancer, the better it is too treat. Some only need surgery with no chemo, then there are others of us who have to go through chemo. It is just a blood test. I pray that I never have to go through cancer again.

I HATE CANCER AND WHAT IT DOES TO FAMILIES!!!
